Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. She belongs to four generations of the Robertses to reside in the Atlanta region, beginning with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. Early in his life his father became obsessed by theater. When he was a college student in Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in many productions. In 1953, he enlisted in the Air Force and while stationed in Biloxi in Mississippi, he acted in a show together with Betty Lou Bredemus. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year. Walter was enrolled in Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In the year 1957, they left the airforce and Walter started his education at Tulane. Walter was a part of the Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio after they moved their family from Atlanta to Georgia's Decatur in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the children's local Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. The following year, they started The Actors and Writers Workshop which operated for six years. Lelisa Billingsley, also known as Lisa was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
