Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born on November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to score a of 10 for an Olympic competition. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci when she was six. Later, she would become Romania's gymnastics coach. Comaneci was the first to compete for time in the national junior championships and finished 13th. The following year she was crowned champion. Three gold medals were awarded in her very first contest at a junior Olympic meet in 1972 that was held by communist countries. In 1973 and 1974 she won the junior all-round champion. In 1975, she won 4 gold and 1 silver at her first senior international competition. Lyudmila Torishcheva was a five-time European Champion. She took home the American Cup in New York City in 1976 and became the first woman in history to complete the backward double salto in a dismount from the uneven bars parallel to each other. The journey of Carol Wayne into the realm of entertainment began in her teens. With her twin sister Nina Wayne, she joined touring entertainment programs that were known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 Chicago Illinois US. Carol ventured into the entertainment industry during her teenage years. She began her career by joining her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling show of entertainment. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating performances.
